Common Questions
Why does Ejecta need Full Disk Access?
Ejecta needs Full Disk Access to use the lsof command, which identifies which processes have files open on your external drives. Without this permission, Ejecta can’t tell you what’s blocking your drive from ejecting.
This permission is only used to read process information — Ejecta never reads, modifies, or transmits any of your personal files or data.
What macOS versions are supported?
Ejecta requires macOS 14 Sonoma or later. It runs natively on both Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.
Can I use my license on multiple Macs?
Your license is tied to one Mac at a time, but you can deactivate it from one Mac and activate it on another. This lets you transfer your license if you get a new computer.
How do I activate my license?
- Download and install Ejecta
- Click the Ejecta icon in your menu bar
- Go to Preferences
- Enter your license key and click Activate
What if graceful quit doesn’t work?
If a process won’t quit gracefully, Ejecta will offer to force quit it. This is safe for read operations, but if a process is actively writing to your drive, force quitting could result in data loss. Ejecta will warn you about this before proceeding.
